Hank was born on March 18, 2006. I adopted him in October of 2006 from the Adopt-A-Pet on Kingston Pike in Knoxville, Tn. My live-in boyfriend at the time and I had decided a dog was a great idea for us. We thought we would shop around. Our first stop was Adopt-A-Pet. We weren’t sure what we wanted. I knew I couldn’t handle a barker. We went in and perused the little dogs. Nothing was looking great for us. So I asked to see the “bigger dog area” before we left. There was a TON of barking there. The second kennel on the right wasn’t barking. The saddest eyes I’ve ever seen. I stuck my hand in and he just laid his head against my hand. I swear it was love at first sight! We got him out to play and he never barked once. I saw his towel was torn up; he must be a chewer. So we decided it was too rash to take him home. We hadn’t been anywhere else! So we went home. I was so in love I convinced the “live-in” that we had to go back the next day to get him.
We figured up the cost of everything. We went to Adopt-A-Pet and adopted “Baxter”. We went straight to Petsmart and bought everything he would need to start. We even let him pick out his first toy, Mr Hippo. We went home and put everything together. This was the first picture taken of “Baxter” in his new home!

We deicded “Baxter” just didn’t fit him. After a few days we came up with “Hank”. It fits him perfectly. He likes it!
We learned from Adopt-A-Pet that Hank had actually been a return. He was adopted out as a puppy and then later brought back. He is absolutely the sweetest dog I have ever met. He must have just gotten too big.
In 2007 I moved out; Hank came with me. We live downtown with my roommate and sometimes her boyfriend. Hank is in love with her boyfriend. He loves him more than he will ever love me!
I’ve had bad times with Hank and he’s been a bad dog sometimes… but we love each other unconditionally. I could never give that up.
